Volunteer in India

Our programs in India take place in the cities of Bangalore (Bengaluru), Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata (Calcutta), Mumbai (Bombay), Tuni and in surrounding rural areas. Depending on the program, you may be able to combine your placement with a rural and urban setting.

Programs are available year round, and start dates are entirely flexible. The minimum length of stay is one week. The maximum stay is six months per visit. After six months, you can leave the country and return immediately for another six-month stay.

Participants live with a local host family who has been carefully screened and briefed. Most family members will speak good English. Your family will provide you with all meals, a private room, laundy service (usually), and inclusion in regular family activities. It's a unique opportunity to gain real insights into Indian culture, practice one of local languages like Hindi, make some lifelong friendships. Orphanage volunteers can often stay at the orphanage itself in a private room. As with the host family stay, all meals are included in the program fees.
