Our HIV/AIDS volunteer program in Ghana provides you with the opportunity to help Ghanaians prevent the transmission of HIV and to provide support and caring to patients and families affected by HIV/AIDS.
The two locations for our for HIV/AIDS volunteer work in Ghana are cities of Cape Coast and Ho (in the Volta Region).
As a volunteer, you will work with a local HIV/AIDS advocacy organization in either Cape Coast or Ho in Ghana. When you arrive, the HIV/AIDS organization will provide you with training on their work, your specific duties, and in HIV/AIDS in general.
Your volunteer work will be a combination of visits to a medical clinic as well as outreach programs in local communities. The outreach work includes workshops to educate villagers on HIV/AIDS, disease prevention, efforts to lessen the social stigma, and mobile HIV testing. There are also occasional opportunities to do home visits with patients where you and the staff will bring food and medicines and generally spend quality time with patients and their families.
Because the HIV/AIDS volunteer work is 2-3 days per week, most volunteers in this program also work part-time at an orphanage.
