Flights to Thailand

Most international flights into Thailand arrive in the capital city Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport (airport code BKK). Our volunteers then take a one-hour connecting flight to the city of Chiang Mai, arriving at Chiang Mai International Airport (code CNX).

The airlines we prefer are United Airlines, Delta, American Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Bangkok Airways, KLM, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Qatar Airways. To search airfares for Thailand, we use Hipmunk, Google Flights, and Kayak the most. The site www.airfarewatchdog.com will also send you alerts on fares. We also search the carriers’ own websites and occasionally even call them — because they sometimes offer cheaper fares that are not published.

When to book international flights? Studies show that it pays to book 150 to 225 days ahead, and within that window the best day is 171 days ahead. The best strategy is to start searching fares as soon as you commit to going to Thailand with us.

If you are flying alone to Thailand, please book the best tickets for yourself in terms of price and schedule. Our staff will meet you at the airport in Chiang Mai, Thailand 24 hours, 7 days a week year-round.

For group trips, you can book the flights directly with your school – OR – You can have us book the flights for you. We book group flights through agencies like Fly For Good and STA Travel that specialize in volunteer trips and student travel. One of our coordinators from Cosmic Volunteers will escort your group on the flight from home to Thailand.
